I'm Back

Hi Everyone,

Sorry i havent posted in a while. It wasnt because i wasn't doing anything but because i did a bit and stalled at writing it on here.

So what have i been upto in the last 2 weeks:

- I attended a great training day at Knowle West Media Centre which was hosted by Creative Skill Set (http://www.creativeskillset.org/) where we met with people between 16-25 who wanted to develop their skills to help them gain an entry level role in the Media Industry. We looked at how to construct a good C.V and also were able to speak with some industry people who have been involved with Media or the last 4 years. This was a great opportunity to network with 'insiders' and get our name out there. It also proved that there are many ways to meet industry people and that events hosted at Knowle West Media Centre can benefit anyone with Media career aspirations.

- During the above training day i was able to meet 16 year old filmmaker; Harrison Dowling who shares his films and opinions on his Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/harrisondowlingfilms .I was able to record an interview with Harrison for the ELEBCIS Project where i asked him about his opinions of getting into the Media industry and from what he told me ,lack of advertisement for roles is his concern. This made me think, how many Media roles are actuall advertised and how many are just word of mouth? Is it really Who you know not What you know?

- Day 2 of the Skill Set training was very cool. We got to go see the Bottle Yard Studios in Whitchurch and was given a tour of the set of Sky One comedy ;Trollied. We were then taken to BBC Studios and given a tour of the points west studio and were even able to make our own Radio Drama (ended up more like a comedy). It was a great day and the best bit might of been the BBC canteen..yumm
